WHO?

Here are a couple of quick facts about me. Yes, all true. Sometimes I get surprised myself when I tell somebody. It’s like, “Wow, did it all really happen? To me?”

But first things first. A photo:

Now, facts:

· A classically trained piano player who performed own compositions at the Moscow Conservatory at the age of thirteen.

· Starred in an independent film that was directed by Rob Schwartz (son of Morrie of “Tuesdays With Morrie”, The New York Times best seller by Mitch Albom), in Lhasa, Tibet.

· Spent a month in jail as an alleged Russian spy (the charges were dropped later, yep).

· While traveling in Asia, was lucky to successfully get away from a violent criminal who attempted to sell me to a Chinese brothel.

· Used to front the band called Schizowave. Retired Schizowave after getting sick of hearing the words “dark cabaret”, and preparing to surprise the world with something new.

· Managed a restaurant in Lhasa, Tibet.

· Created a clothing line “Thank You For Your Sex”.

· R Kelly said: “I was telling ya, she is the only white girl who can dance!” The man was higher than the skies but yeah, he said it.

· Been compared to female David Bowie, Nick Cave, Jim Morrison, Portishead, Nina Simone, Tom Waits.

· A passionate antagonist of paying on a date who wrote a special song about it.

· Founded Russian Rock Chicago, an organization promoting Russian musical culture in the US and especially in the Midwest.

Right now I am on a break from concerts because I am taking lessons with an operatic teacher, which means I am bouncing between ecstasy (as in, state of mind) and despair depending on how well I sing on a given day. It also means that you can often find me “touching myself” (and by that, I mean “throat”) in public places, or testing out breathing or muscle movement as I lie in my bed wide awake. Sometimes I also start singing scales, in my bed, at 3 am. As one of my friends put it, “your lucky neighbors”. Not doing any shows is driving me freaken bananas, but it’s worth it to me. I can’t screw this one up. I’ve always wanted to do it, and my old teachers were telling me that I couldn’t. Now I know that I physically can, but I need to work work work. Per aspera ad astra.
